OBJECTIVE

We were tasked with restoring the illuminated beacon atop the iconic "Superman" building in downtown Providence. 80 years of exposure to the elements combined with difficult maintenance caused the steel windows to deteriorate beyond repair. High winds caused the specialty prismatic glass to crack in numerous locations.

We strived to maintain the historic character on the exterior while utilizing modern construction methods. The steel medallions that are shown below were originally used to fasten the x-braced glazing in place. These were painstakingly replicated on the exterior to maintain the historic character even though it is 400 ft above street level.
